The 2023 summer journey will be led by Anna Gergely, a native of Transylvania, who was born in Romania and speaks both Hungarian and Romanian, fluently.  Anna has over 30 years of international travel, study and work experience and has led several other international trips for families.

Tour price includes:

• Airfare in coach class of service (from Chicago to Bucharest; Targu Mures to Budapest; Budapest to Chicago)

• Hotel accommodations in Romania and Hungary

• Meals every day (2 times daily)

• Snacks and water on bus transportation

• Private, air conditioned bus transportation

• All sightseeing and cultural activities

• All museum entrance fees

• Dracula’s castle and Peles castle entrance fees

• Transylvanian folkloric dance show, “csárdás lesson”

• Hungarian Parliament entrance fee and private tour

• Evening Danube River Cruise with meals and drinks

• Castle, church, synagogue and theatre entrance fees

• Pottery lesson for children

• Bread and chimney cake baking lesson

• Pálinka tasting for adults

• School visit/hospital visit

• Local, expert guides

• Entrance fee to the salt mine
   

The price also includes country, language and trip preparation sessions for interested family members (before departure).  These sessions will teach families the history and culture of Romania and Hungary, as well as prepare travelers how to travel to Central and Eastern Europe.

The price does not include:

• Transportation to Chicago (we will meet at ORD) – families can carpool or rent vans and travel together to ORD

• Travel insurance and/or international health insurance

• Gratuities to local expert guides and bus drivers

• Passport fees

• Airline excess baggage fees

• Optional (extra) activity expenses, such as horseback riding, canoeing, entrance fees to aqua park or spas, etc.
   

The trip can be customized to meet the wishes or requests of the travelers. For example, for adult travelers, we can coordinate visits to hospitals, textile industries, or to other professions so that adults can see their vocation’s/industry’s situation in Eastern/Central Europe. For younger travelers, we can organize a visit to a local school, arrange tennis or soccer games with local children and/or provide horseback riding lessons in Romania.

• A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is due shortly after registration (this will be applied towards the cost of the trip)

• Full Payment: December 1, 2022

• Half and Half Payment: December 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023

• Monthly Payment Installments: November 1 – May 1 (7 payments)
